Many thanks to the Grimme Institute for this wonderful award:
“The Love Europe Project” unites stories across national borders and is an appeal to understand Europe’s diversity and thus the complexity of freedom. The miniatures offer us views from the outside that first open our eyes, then our hearts and finally our minds to the interests of the people of Europe (…) No other production of this television year has the jury so unanimously agreed on the need for an award.”

Best Emerging Director: Tomasz E. Rudzik for AGNIESZKA
Jury’s Statement:
In his feature AGNIESZKA, Mr. Rudzik tells the compelling love story of a young woman whose journey takes her from a Polish prison to working at a German escort agency for dominatrices. The film doesn’t rely on brutality. Instead it explores how the protagonist’s inner world is revealed through her work— while she’s physically fearless, what truly terrifies her are emotions and intimacy. Mr. Rudzik captures this with striking visuals, without the need for excessive dialogue and through his skillful direction of the actors, especially Ms. Karolina Gorczyca who shines in the lead role.
